Wishing

Wishing I had something interesting to write about.

Wishing I had some resolution to some of the balls I've been juggling.

Wishing I had a housekeeper.

Wishing I had a degree in child psychology and therfore could understand what makes a "tween" a tick.

Wishing I was like Mary Poppins or Governess Maria so that I could parent my children in a firm and loving way and we would always have oodles of fun. And lots of singing.

Grateful for all that I do have.

Yes I Did Friday - Special Edition

So, it's that time again where we share our triumphs and dreadful mistakes and get free therapy by getting it out there. If you want to play along, go join up at Jeanette's. You won't regret it!

This is a special edition in honor of my youngest son Grayson!

Yes I Did, 6 years ago today, go into labor while at the mall with two other children age 4 and 2 looking for a way to spend my birthday money.

Yes I Did call my husband at work and ask him to come home, as I was sure I was in labor.

Yes I Did get really, really mad when he didn't show up after 2 hours and labor was getting progressively worse.

Yes I Did get to the hospital and still have to wait 6 hours for this precious little baby to be born.

Yes I Did have an epidural!

Yes I Did get really, really mad, again, when my husband insisted on watching some dumb basketball game in the room when I was in active labor.

Yes I Did cry giant tears when they placed him on my belly for the first time.

Yes I Did forgive my husband for being a dip 2 times in one day.

Yes I Did think he was my last child.

Yes I Do love him fiercely.

Yes I Am so proud to call him my son.

Happy Birthday Boo Boo! Mommy and Daddy love you so much. You are an incredible little being and I love being your Mommy.

Random Thoughts

1. Why in the world do my children never have school? Every time I turn around there is some in service day or some stinking reason they have to be out.

2. Why in the world are people so rude? I just saw a lady at school, who didn't wave back at the crossing guard. Our crossing guards are the nicest people. Who else would stand out in the rain, or the freezing temperatures to make sure kids get to school safely. If they wave at you, shouldn't you wave back????

3. Funny joke - Did you know that a certain famous golfer has a new name? His new name is Cheetah. (snort).

4. Why in the world do people think it's any of our business if the wife of this famous golfer was chasing him down with a golf club or if he was having an affair to begin with? A guy on the radio this morning said he thinks maybe society is fascinated with building people up just so we can watch them fall when they do something human. I think there is something to that.

5. What is the deal with my mom choosing us to have family pictures in navy blue. I hate navy blue. I don't own navy blue. Now I have to go shopping for a shirt that I won't wear ever again.

Okay, I guess that's enough rambling. Stay tuned, I am fully planning on participating in Yes I Did Friday! tomorrow.

The Unveiling

I was so proud of myself. I bought the Christmas cards yesterday. I uploaded the photo to be printed. I went to the store to pick up said photo. Apparently I uploaded the wrong photos. I now have 17 pictures of my two youngest children.

As adorable as the pictures are, a. I don't need 17 of them and b. people will wonder what happened to my other children if I use these pictures for our Christmas card. So . . . I found some old photo paper and tried out my new printer. They turned out okay. They aren't as crisp as I think they would have turned out if I had them printed in a lab, but they'll do. I am too embarrassed/lazy to go back to Costco today.

And, I am still kind of proud of myself because they are all done and ready to be mailed on December 1st. Which is better than last year, or the year before, or any year, really, because this is the first year I've done cards.

Oh Christmas Tree!

It was a good day. Chilly, but happy. Except for my son who thinks he is too cool for us. But we'll talk about that another day.

Grady found us the perfect tree this year!
Chloe wasn't too sure about all this. I think she was too young to remember last year.

Getting ready to work.

It had to have been the dullest saw EVER!

Getting an even cut.

I'm sure it wasn't going anywhere until we cut the twine off! He's thorough like that.

Going to get our hot cocoa and apple cider.

Sitting by the bonfire.
It was a good day. We are so blessed.
I'll take the pictures of the decorated tree today and try to get them up tomorrow. Today I did a whole lotta nothing, so I may have to do something tomorrow.
Wishes for a blessed and joyous Christmas!

Thanksgiving Pics

Here are some photos from Thanksgiving Day at my parents' house. The kids had a great time. I don't think I really got a photo that I can use for Christmas cards, but maybe people know us well enough by now that a goofy picture would be acceptable.

This might be my favorite Chloe picture ever.

This might be our Christmas picture. I think it's probably as good as it's going to get!

Don't they look so much alike?

Travis has this weird thing about making a turkey. So even though my parents made a turkey, he made one and we brought it along! His turkey was delish. As were his mashed potatoes, which he mashed by hand. And not a lump to be found.
And, if you remember what today was supposed to be, I have some status for you. Thanks to all your hard work and petitioning my cause, I am going to get our tree today :) It's too cold to head to the mountains, but we are hitting a tree farm. That's good enough for me. I owe you guys one!
