Oh, it's that time again where I will share with you a story to make you feel better about your own lives.
Dateline - Saturday, noon.
Me: Travy, do you think we can go to Nordstrom this afternoon after your football thingy? I mean, it is the Anniversary Sale, and you know the shoes are such a great deal and all?
Travis: Are you kidding me? Nordstrom, 45 minutes away, on a Saturday afternoon, during a sale?
Me: Please . . .
Travis: Fine, be ready to go when I get back (grumble, grumble).
After finally finding a parking spot in the garage, we arrive at the shoe department. Grayson refuses to get his foot measured. Dude, Really?
Our sweet, angelic, children try on no less than 20 pairs of shoes between the 4 of them. They don't fit right, they are ugly, I don't like the laces, etc. Dude, Really?
I was very, very clear to my charming husband that they were to only choose from the sale table. Remember this part of the story - it's important.
After much hoopla, we arrived at two pairs of shoes for each boy - Chloe only got one pair, but she's not going to school, after all. Now, that may sound like a lot, but these are boys, and so they are a little hard on shoes, and the prices during the anniversary sale are better than Kohl's or Fred Meyer, so we decided to stock up this year.
When we make our way to the cashier, I had to make an exit. I get buyer's remorse in the worst way, and I just couldn't bear to see the final total.
On the way home, I finally had to ask how much. The number he told me had me yelling, "Dude, really?"
I did the math in my head. It just wasn't adding up. Where did things go south?
Me: Exactly how much were the second pair of shoes you and Grant picked out?
Travis: Well, the tag said $41.95-$92.00. So I guess they were $41.95.
Me: Hmmm. Are you sure?
Let's just say, they came off the wrong table and my 9 year old ended up with $92.00 shoes. DUDE REALLY? I think they will be heading back . . .
